Paleo diet Testimonial – 14lb in 8 weeks!
I have been trying to get my mom to workout and eat better for a long time now but it each time fails. In January we started a Look Better Naked challenge at One World and kicked it off with a nutrition lecture from Freddy. I convinced her to go and to my surprise the next day she cleaned up her food intake. Two months later and her is what she has to say. Way to go Mom!
I attended Freddie’s Nutritional Seminar in January. My son Chris Stroud invited me to attend and suggested it would be interesting. Though I’m not a cross fitter like Chris, I went to the seminar. What Freddie had to say about nutrition was a home run for me. The very next day on a trip to the grocery store, I stocked up on protein, fruit, nuts and veggies and vowed to remove processed food, refined sugars anything white and beige from my diet, as Freddie suggested. Particularly, I avoided central isles of the grocery store and shopping the perimeter where healthy foods are positioned. It’s now 8 weeks later and I’m 14 lbs. lighter, I feel GREAT! I’m not as bloated, my bad knee and back haven’t given me the problems as in the past. More importantly I view what I eat with scrutiny as opposed to instant gratification from processed/refined foods. ( I was a chocolate chip cookie monster). I do have Sushi once in a while and have an occasional ho-ho to satisfy my craving for carbs and sugar. I call those my gift days. Most of the weight loss has been attributed to the change in my eating habits. I’ve taken up longer walks then I did before. The combination of diet and increased exercise motivates me to continue the process. I feel really good and I thank Chris and Shannon for encouraging me to attend Freddie’s seminar and I thank Freddie for the motivation. Hawaii cruise, here I come…..
Like it says in the Food and Sleep recommendation guide that you all have, a combination between Paleo and Functional training will get you to the way you want to look. Just keep with it and the results will come.

After a life time, maybe a few good months here & there, of eating what sounds good, is easy to make, &/or what others put in front of me, for the first time I am just saying “NO!!!!” to tasteless-garbage! I thought that it would be hard, that I would be craving breads & sugars, or that I would be starving due to the lack of carbs(pasta/bread), but its none of those things. I am finding that I am eating moderate sized portions & snacking more frequently & I have yet to have even one uncontrollable craving. I’m planning ahead & finding shopping/cooking less stressful & more fun than ever before! And the workouts, challenging as they may be, are the just the icing on the vegetable cake .This change of life isn’t just for me, it’s a change for my whole family. Thank you to One World Gym & Chris Strode for offering this life changing experience in such an adaptable program.
Domminique,
You are very lucky to not have the cravings! I had (and sometimes still do) them bad when I switched to Paleo. I am excited for you and excited to see you progress in the upcoming moths.
Hey Chris,
So I didnt know Mom wrote this, but I am stoked for her. She talks a lot about the physical changes for her, but there has been a lot more emotional changes as well. By losing the weight and be more active, she seems happier, not that she wasn’t happy before, now she just glows. I’m really proud of her, and she looks great!! Her closet is growing from just dark colors to blend in with crowd, to brighter colors and stripes things that people notice. It’s good to see mom so much more comfortable with herself.
I love Mom, and she is doing great!!
Sha,
I’m very proud for mom as well, she is doing great. I’m not there to help on a daily basis but i’m sure your doing a good job at helping her.
I am really excited about Paleo! I always considered myself a healthy eater, but when Chris told us to write everything down, it made me realize that I didn’t always make wise-choices.
My problem isn’t so much the cravings, it’s not being prepared and being in a hurry to get out of the house in the mornings juggling bootcamp/and a child. This is something I learned from my food log. I’m working hard at preparing everything the night before!
I’ve noticed after two weeks that I’m not as tired EVERY day, in fact I get hyper; my stress levels are beginning to subside b/c I feel in-sync with my body; my clothes feel loser; my core feels stronger and I look forward to my next workout! All-in-all I haven’t felt this good since before my pregnancy (almost 5 years ago)! I feel like I’ve finally found something that I can follow-through with and I’m so grateful for all the great advice. Thanks Chris!
